Sacred moments of an Indian marriage - V/VIPosted by Shuva Brata Deb (Bangalore, India) on 24 August 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture. In this part of the country(Andhra, India), the groom put the ring on his bride's toe finger. Why? Please dont ask me. I dont know. Would appreciate of someone who knows throw more light here.

Leslie from BelgiumShuva I thought you were going to explain some beautiful tradition for us. I feel let down..heh! =) I do really like the concentration of just arms and feet in this photo. Lots to absorb...and of course now you have me wondering what is the tradition? I hope someone here can explain. 24 Aug 2007 9:24am Sidonie from Sydney, AustraliaSuperb silken B&W tones. I've heard about this, and seen western women imitating the toe ring look as a fashion, probably without knowing its significance. 24 Aug 2007 12:51pm Lala from Long Sault, CanadaI love this photograph - I like that you can not see their faces...it accentuates the gesture itself. I wish I had answers for you, but i have no idea why this is done - i would like to know now as well... 24 Aug 2007 8:52pm Manuela Photography from Hainburg, GermanyI am also curious now! Thanks Shuva for this series, each and every picture is very special. 27 Aug 2007 7:18am |
