I agree, the colour tone gives it a strange, spooky impression. A really well made image that intrigued me enough to go and look up its history on Wikipedia, so well done for an inspiring image.

Nice shot. You know what I love the most? No tourists. Although that lens flare is slightly distracting I still dig the sun behind the image and yellow light on those pillars.
