Smoke Art V/VI

Posted by Shuva Brata Deb (Bangalore, India) on 27 April 2007 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

...continuing from my yesterday's post, today I am serving you a smoking drink today. I must admit that today's post has more photoshop than my other smoke posts -- shadows/contrast was cranked up in RAW editor, Unsharpen Mask was also cranked up beyond my usual limit, and curves adjustment to get the color.

Unfortunately I could not get the lower part of the wine glass-- the photo is actually posted unside down. The smoke is not due to some burning substance thrown inside the glass (which could be dangerous), but from an incense stick again. The glass was held upside down to catch all the smoke from the stick.

Tomorrow is the end of this series and I will try to explain my studio setup for all these pictures. The technique is very simple -- you just need patience more than anything else.

Great series Shuva. I'll wait to see your set up and attempt a few shots of the same subject myself :)
