They are generally considered as a symbol of marriage. All married Hindu women wear bangles and they are always worn in pairs(even numbered). Unmarried girls also wear them just for the sake of it, but widows among the Hindu never wear bangles. The origin however dates back to the old Vedic age, where it was just a fashionable item and had nothing to do with marriage. Soodabeh from Yazd, Iranreally nice colors!
