"Teacher's Day, Hip Hip Hurray"Posted by Shuva Brata Deb (Bangalore, India) on 5 September 2006 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio. I dont know if shouting the above slogan is the appropriate way of celebrating Teacher's day, but thats what we used to do at school procession taken out on this day. We used to walk on the road, the students of all shools forming a huge procession and everybody shouting this slogan. In India, Teachers' Day is celebrated on September 5, in honour of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, its second President, Profeesor of Philosophy and a noted educationist, on a day which happens to be his birthday. Its interesting to note that it is celebrated all over the world but the dates are different. Every country has a fixed date, but not the USA--they have it on the Tuesday of the first full week of May. Strange!

Srinivas from Visakhapatnam, IndiaNice way of remembering a great day shuva. Excellent lighting in the shot. The way the floppy drive is placed makes it presence little unrecognized. You should have tried a different way of placing it :-). 5 Sep 2006 6:12am Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgiumnice tribute to teachers and a good still life the lighting is good although you could probably get rid of the higlight on the spine of the purple book with some creative use of angles. I am reading (I started it 7 months ago so not reading it much!) a great book called Lighting Science and Magic which is an excellent reference on lighting. Not only studio lighting but how to see light in all aspects of photography and by using angles (the family of angles to be specific) you can control glare and reflection etc... 5 Sep 2006 9:55am Raghu from United StatesAh the Teacher's Day.. reminds me of school days.. all those memories of imitating your teachers on this day.. fun all the way.. btw nice snap :) 5 Sep 2006 1:54pm Suby from United KingdomI love the composition and framing you have done here, the lighting works, Suby 5 Sep 2006 6:10pm Prashanth Manikyarajaiah from Bangalore, IndiaNice way to say thank you to our teachers. 6 Sep 2006 5:30am Leslie Horacek from Brussels, Belgiumlove this composition with the apples and pencil propped upon the books. 6 Sep 2006 11:36pm Mia from United StatesI've read that Jeffrey Archer book... forgot the title though.
