Strange colours. Very saturated ? Is it due to a post process on the picture ?

No....its just a bad picture attempted to make it look better. Processing: Creating an overlayer with 60% opacity (Ctrl+L) and doing Filter->Find Edges (Ctrl+F). Repeat Ctrl+L, Ctrl+F a couple of times.
