The sad part is that this image got rejected at the site(IstockPhoto), where I am trying to sell them. They say this has too much noise. The background indeed is grainy when you expand it to 100%.

Did you try running noise ninja on it - I can do it for you if you want to see if it helps. Also if I were publishing this picture I'd crop it a bit to get the fly out of the center of the image - cutting off some of the leaf on the right would highlight the strong line of the stem leading into the left of the frame.
