The next time I will see fireworks I will try a technique I read about in a magazine: choose a long aperture ( I think you should choose BULB) and hide the lense with a hat or cap. Each time a firework exploses you just have to take away the cap and so on and so on. It was said that with this technique you can fotograph plenty of fireworks on only one shot. Must be a great effect.

Kerstin - that sounds like a fun technique to try.
Shuva - more great shots - I like the blue one bottom right with the white rocket shooting upwards.
